Learning to Hear Our Inner Wisdom

As we journey in our daily lives, we are faced with many choices on how to act. In most cases, we don’t consider our inner wisdom as the mental choice feels right. However, if we think a choice is right but doesn’t feel right, which can be viewed as disharmony between our mental wisdom and inner wisdom, we can explore different ways to act and seek one in which there is harmony and, if we find it, follow it. In seeking a different choice, it is important to recognize if we are awake to our inner wisdom in making the choice. If we are not able to find a choice in which we sense harmony, we can continue; it often works out. On the other hand, life is a school and sometimes when we feel the choice we made is right and as we continue our journey, we recognize that the choice has stopped feeling right and it is then time to reconsider our purpose or path.

The lower our stress level the easier it is to be awake and deal with challenges, large and small. Any new insight we gain enables us to learn in our mental wisdom or inner wisdom, or both. We have choices. Some people get stressed out at small things that go wrong which affects their ability to deal with them, others turn immediately to dealing positively with the situation that went wrong.

The same thoughts that apply at the individual level apply when we are partnering with others to make decisions. In a partnership we have a commitment to a shared purpose. The pathway to achieving it can sometimes be harmonious and feel right and at other moments there is disagreement and disharmony, which needs to be resolved. The more we can address these moments without stress and be awake to our inner wisdom and listen to each other, the better the opportunity to find a positive path forward and concurrently learn both in our mental wisdom and inner wisdom, and incrementally in loving ourselves and loving each other.

Another important thought in learning how to love ourselves and love each other is the concept of forgiveness. If we are able to forgive ourselves for mistakes we make, forgiving others is easier. Life is about learning; addressing our mistakes is the grist in the mill of learning. Our life journey provides us the opportunity to evolve individually and contribute incrementally to the evolution of humankind and to building heaven on earth.
